Senior Product Manager, GraphQL Platform + Backend Platform

Candidates for this position are expected to be based in Mountain View, CA and will need to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.


Who We Are
The Content & Client Platforms Pod is responsible for key platforms that accelerate time to market and enable measurement of customers experiences. They support both developers and non-technical users to build, manage and iterate on the customer experience faster and with higher confidence. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead our GraphQL Platform and Backend Platform Teams. In this high-impact role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead mature platform teams that enable Wayfair’s teams to ship high-quality experiences to our customers faster.

What You’ll Do:
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for the GraphQL Platform and core Backend Platform services, ensuring continuous value creation for Wayfair's platform and its users.
  • Act as an advocate and ambassador to drive adoption of new GraphQL and Backend Platform capabilities across Wayfair's engineering teams, effectively evangelizing their benefits and managing the adoption lifecycle.
  • Focus on improving the software development lifecycle, specifically in areas related to developer productivity, leveraging GenAI to accelerate development for all partners.
  • Influence the roadmap and direction of key third-party vendors and open-source technologies.
  • Use data and user research to consistently increase the value of these mature, high-scale platforms and identify new opportunities for customer use cases.

We Are a Match Because You Have:
  • 8+ years experience working in product management.
  • Familiarity with Graphql federation and micro service architecture.
  • Value Optimization at Scale. You possess the necessary product management experience to drive consistent value and optimization for widely adopted, mature platform products, ensuring they continue to scale effectively across new teams and use cases.
  • Proven Success in Adoption. You are skilled at evangelizing new platform capabilities and driving their successful adoption, ensuring the platform delivers maximum business value despite initial resistance.
  • Sufficient Technical Acumen. You possess reasonable technical depth to understand developer workflows and the microservice architecture. You are able to facilitate and help debate technical decisions regarding core services, GraphQL, and service-to-service data transport
  • Strong User Research Capabilities. You are skilled at going out and independently conducting user research to identify opportunities and pain points for your developer customers.
  • Strategic Vendor Relationship Experience. You have experience managing high-value vendor relationships, specifically concerning core infrastructure, and are comfortable dedicating time to influencing their product direction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
