Community Events Specialist/ Full-Time

Overview:



As a Community Event Specialist for Wayfair Stores, you’ll bring our brand to life through engaging, community-focused events that drive customer traffic and local awareness. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of People Operations, you’ll lead event execution from supplier demos to community gatherings while ensuring seamless logistics and staffing. Beyond events, you’ll support in-store promotions, events, and visual merchandising to keep the store environment fresh and inviting. This role is your chance to own how Wayfair connects with customers and communities through memorable experiences.


 


What Does an Event Specialist Do?



  • 🎉 Event Support & Execution: Lead and deliver engaging in-store and external community events that boost brand visibility and drive foot traffic.

  • 📋 Logistics Management: Coordinate setup, breakdown, staffing, and vendor needs to ensure smooth, successful events.

  • 🤝 Customer Engagement: Serve as the main contact during events, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience and impression of Wayfair.

  • 📦 Promotional Oversight: Manage distribution and tracking of promotional materials and coupons accurately.

  • 📸 Content Creation Instincts: You should have an eye for visually compelling moments and know what resonates online. You will capture and help create engaging social media content in partnership with the Marketing team. (If you have examples or a portfolio of previous content or creations, that’s a huge plus!)

  • 📢 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with leadership, store support teams, and People Operations to align event goals with business priorities.

  • 🖼️ In-Store Support: Assist with visual merchandising and promotional displays during non-event periods to keep the store fresh and inviting.

  • 📱 Expert in “Mobile” Photography: You’ve got an eye for great shots and know how to make everyday moments pop on camera—using just your phone. Clean, well-composed, scroll-stopping photos? That’s your thing.

  • 🕒 Flexible Availability: Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support event and store needs.

  • 🚗 Travel Readiness: Comfortable with up to 50% travel, typically within a 50-mile radius, to support events and community engagements.

  • 💪 Physical Activity:Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.

  • 🧎 Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.

  • 📦 Lifting Ability: Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • 👀 Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • 🌡️ Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.

  • 🔊 Noise Tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
