Director – Health/Sciences

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director to lead our Health/Sciences department. This role is responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, responding to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and presenting/interviewing for potential projects.

The Director will oversee project execution, staffing, design, and problem resolution while serving as the primary client contact.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, mentorship, and team oversight within the department.
Manage and ensure technical quality, including QA/QC processes, utilizing established review methods.
Supervise and guide engineers, conducting meetings as needed to support project supervision.
Oversee project scheduling, deadlines, and manpower assignments in coordination with management.
Develop and write bid proposals, contracts, and cost estimates following company standards.
Offer expertise in engineering design, drawings, specifications, calculations, and problem-solving.
Monitor project plans and timelines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, making adjustments as needed.
Establish and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring responsive communication.
Collaborate with other department directors to ensure seamless operations.
In partnership with leadership, participate in hiring, training, and mentoring engineering staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and address performance-related matters.
Ensure accurate project accounting and budget compliance in coordination with accounting teams.
Maintain department budgets and revenue projections.
Support marketing efforts related to the department's expertise.

Requirements:

Extensive knowledge of multi-discipline engineering, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection.
Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical/IT system design, particularly within healthcare and life sciences.
Strong project management experience with demonstrated success in leading complex projects.
Knowledge of local, state, and national codes, including NFPA, Joint Commission, FGI, and AHJ regulations.
Experience with load analysis and energy modeling programs (e.g., eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, Carrier HAP).
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; knowledge of USGBC LEED Rating system is a plus.
Excellent time management, ability to meet deadlines, and strong financial management skills.
Proven ability to manage internal and external resources, prioritize tasks, and multi-task effectively.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor others.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
Education & Experience: Professional Engineer (PE) certification required. Bachelor of Science in Engineering required. Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering and managerial experience, with a strong record in the design and project management of critical care facilities and laboratories. Experience managing multi-disciplinary MEP teams.
