Job Description

General Description and Classification Standards

Reporting to the Deputy General Manager this role directs multiple commercial Airport business units to include Airline Affairs/Commercial Property Management Commercial Real Estate Air Service Development and International Business Affairs.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day direction and strategic planning of assigned units; allocates and manages budgeted resources; establishes processes and procedures to maintain efficiency in the various commercial units; significant contributor in developing Airport policy and Airport strategic plans.

This is a senior position in the Hartsfield-Jackson executive leadership structure charged with providing guidance and expertise for multiple specialized commercial functions within the Airport with oversight of multiple director or manager level positions.

Supervision Received

Direction received is very general and focuses more both immediate and strategically planned operating objectives. This is a policy-advisory level of management.

Responsibilities

  1. Directs assigned functions at the Airport through subordinate directors and managers for Airline Affairs/Commercial Property Management Commercial Real Estate Air Service Development and International Business Affairs.
  2. Manages collaboration with business peers/partners in the Commercial Revenue Division comprised of Parking Concessions Non-Traditional Concessions/Special Programs and Marketing/Brand Strategy.
  3. Prepares reviews and implements detailed operating plans including but not limited to fiscal year budget plans departmental/divisional strategic plans operational plans and departmental policies for external/internal stakeholders.
  4. Develops and cultivates relationships and stakeholder policies and programs with communication to the General Manager the Mayors Office and City Council.
  5. Selects manages and develops leadership talent for units managed. Provides guidance and coaching on an ongoing basis. Oversight of divisions success plans and leadership needs including development of future leaders and candidates for higher level positions. Provides both formal and informal feedback to divisional staff members.
  6. With respect to areas of responsibility implements standards remains in compliance regulations policies and procedures set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) City of Atlanta Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other international state and local entities.
  7. Establishes good working relationships with all Airport leadership regulatory representatives Airport-impacted stakeholders local governments and any other pertinent organizations with respect to the areas assigned.
  8. Serves as a member of the senior management team and provides significant input into overall strategic business and financial plans.

Position makes decisions regarding resource allocation among units management; regarding daily operating policies and processes. Position has significant input to overall Airport strategic priorities.

Position has directional authority over a group of seasoned managers and provides high level coaching and development for direct subordinates and high potential employees.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  1. Managing knowledge of Commercial Development business units - Airline Affairs/Commercial Property Management Commercial Real Estate Air Service Development and International Business Affairs.
  2. Senior-level leadership and ability to cultivate interdepartmental talent.
  3. Knowledge of Airport regulations codes and policies for governing commercial entities and programs.
  4. Strong analytical and presentation skills with understanding of Airport industry and commercial and financial policies; strong personnel management skills; exceptional skills in communicating and listening to effectively convey information verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to organize and direct programs and resources involved in areas including but not limited to commercial development lease negotiation contract management communication stakeholder engagement and Airport-impacted community relations.
  6. Supervise train and evaluate the performance and professional development of assigned personnel.
  7. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholder groups on the research development and implementation of revenue-generating Airport programs projects and functions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in business/public administration aviation management or a related area.

Minimum of (10) years of management experience commercial development business management aviation services and/or related fields.


Preferred Education and Experience

Masters degree in business management commercial development aviation services/industry transportation and/or related assignments.


Licensures and Certifications

None required in general.
